DEBICA

WHITE AND GREEN - THESE COLORS DO NOT RUN
- THE HISTORY OF WISLOKA'S FANS
As everybody knows, all kinds of sports bring
about excitement, fun, happiness but also sadness and
aggression. It happens all over the world - fans of ice-hockey
in Canada, football in USA, cricket in England and rugby in
Australia have their ups-and-downs but no matter what happens,
they support their favorite, beloved team.
The same happens in Debica. Over the years, thousands of
supporters were attending games of Wisloka soccer team.
Sometimes our boys won, sometimes lost, but the people of our
town always stood behind them.
The history of organized support in Debica dates back to the
beginning of the 80s. Obviously, in previous years, there was
some kind of support during games, but it was pretty
accidental and depended on the actual mood of spectators. Once
in a while one could hear slogans like: "Down with the
referee!" or "Goalie, you suck!". There were no
flags, no scarves, no chants, sung together by a group of
fanatics.
Situation changed at the beginning of the 80s. Little is known
about these days but one fact is certain - there appered a
bunch of guys who, fascinated by by the atmosphere during
games in major cities like Warsaw or Cracow, decided to do
something similar in Debica.
Picture of stands in Poland in the 80s was very different from
what is happening today. The only gadgets available were
pennants and little badges made of aluminum, showing club's
logo. Items like scarves or flags were not produced, so fans
had to make them themselves. It is hard to believe, but
scarves were patiently knitted by grandmothers, mothers and
girlfriends and flags were often made from dyed baby's diaper
clothes!
All groups of soccer fans have their friends and enemies.
Wisloka's first friends were guys supporting Stal Rzeszow.
Main enemies in the middle of the 80s were supporters of Unia
Tarnow, Resovia Rzeszow and local rival - Igloopol - the less
important and less popular team from Debica.
The alliance with Stal ended around 1987, but at the same time
we found other friends - supporters of Cracovia Krakow and
Stal Mielec (Stal - "steel" - is a popular name of
sports clubs in Poland. It means that a team is sponsored by a
heavy industry factory - like steelworks).
Alliances with Cracovia and Mielec ended after a fateful game
Wisloka vs. Cracovia, which took place in Debica in June of
1990. The game was stopped because of violent fights between
rowdies from both sides. It all started as a result of a small
incident when a drunk fan from Krakow fell down the stairs. As
a sesult Wisloka lost alliance with both teams, because Mielec
chose Cracovia. Right now, supporters of these teams are our
main enemies.
In August of 1988, during the quarter-finals Cup of Poland
game, we started an alliance with fans of one of the greatest
teams in Polish soccer - Gornik Zabrze. The game itself was
the biggest event in Debica's sports history, attracting about
10,000 spectators (which made almost 25% of town's population!)
Ever since, Gornik is our only friend and we hope it will
never change. The team from Zabrze is regarded by us as our
second love - just after Wisloka!
Active supporting during soccer games does not only mean
shouting, waving scarves or traveling around the country after
the team. It also means fighting - because most of Polish fans
- even if they dislike the idea of hooliganism - are often
forced to defend their colors.
Rowdies from Debica have a long hooligan history. Over the
years, white-and-green warriors took part in numerous brawls.
Among supporters of Wisloka there is a group of about 40
hard-core fans who are always ready to fight their enemies.
These guys know how to use their fists and how to kick asses
of their opponents, which has been proven on numerous
occasions.
Right now (spring of 2004) Wisloka's holigans have only one
ally and a whole bunch of enemies from virtually all towns and
cities around. However, this means nothing to us - we do not
care about those who hate us! In fact, their hatred makes us
proud!
Greeetings to all boys from Zabrze as well as guys from ROW
Rybnik, Concordia Knurow and Blekitni Ropczyce - our best
fan-club. Keep up the good work!
ASSOCIATION ? OUR K.S.?
On Thursday, December 2, in the main buliding of KS Wisloka at
Parkowa Street, a meeting of supporters of our club took
place. Those present decided to found an Association of
Supporters of Soccer Team Wisloka Debica ?OUR K.S.? Our goal
is to help promote and support soccer teams of different ages
which represent our club.
Altogether there were about forty people present and they
represented different groups tied in various ways to Wisloka.
Temporary rules have been set as well as monthly duties. Every
member will bo obliged to deposit at least 20 zlotys each
month. The Association will not only support the club by
members? duties. We are determined to help the club in
whatever way possible - e.g. by finding sponsors.
During the meeting the founders? board was organized. It
consists of seven members:
President - Bartosz Micula
Deputy - Andrzej Kedzior
Secretary - Slawomir Ziaja
Treasurer - Marcin Ciurkot
Members - Bogdan Cabaj, Bohdan Pietrucha, Marek Ras
If you have some spare time and good ideas, if you want to
help Wisloka voluntarily (and you are over 18 years old), feel
free to join us at any occassion. There are a lot of things to
be done and together we can handle them all!
Similar initiatives have brought lots of positive effects at
other clubs, and we are hoping for the same outcome in Debica.
Ask not what Wisloka has done for you - ask what you have done
for Wisloka!

Victory of the Old Faith Team (Fanaticos Lozos Blachos) in the First Indoor Soccer Tournament of Wisloka?s Fans.
The First Indoor Soccer Tournament of Wisloka?s Fans and Friends took place in KS Wisloka?s gymnastics hall in Debica on Sunday, January 16th 2005. The winning team, Old Faith, in the final game beat after a fierce competition Torcida Gornik Zabrze. The third team - Ultras Wisloka, beat ROW Rybnik, which was placed on the fourth position. Team LHE?03 was placed on the fifth position.
Apart from groups mentioned before, several other teams took part - Concordia Knurow, Ultras Gornik, FC Ropczyce, Mickiewicza Street, Young Wolves, Old Wolves, Piekary Slaskie.
The tournament started at 3 PM and finished at about 8 PM. Stands in the hall were full of supporters. As much as 500 fans were chanting, drinking beer and having fun while supporting all participating teams. During the show, two new flags of ours were displayed for the first time. These were: IMMORTAL WISLOKA and OLD FAITH. Apart from them, several other flags were displayed: Gornik?s SUPER TORCA and WE WILL BE WITH YOU UNTIL WE DIE, the flag of ROW Rybnik and additional three flags of Wisloka.
The winners received a Cup which was sponsored by Wisloka?s President, Stanislaw Leski. Other teams were also honored with various gifts.
Wisloka?s fans want to thank all our sponsors and those who helped with organizing the tournament. Special thanks and greetings to: Mr. Stefan Bieszczad (Suret), Mr. Marek Pijar (Trans-Poludnie), Mr. Sylwester Drozdz (Painpol).
The whole show was carried out in a friendly and nice atmosphere - both in the stands and on the field. After the tournament several supporters and special guests hit a reserved restaurant and a party took was organized. We are hoping that next year the same tournament will take place. Considering the fact that it was the first event of this kind in Debica, we are proud to say that it was really
great.
